The touring and marketing involved in Carmanah’s most recent release, Iris, has been greatly bolstered by the Radio Starmaker Fund. For an independent band based on Vancouver Island, touring is a huge part of how we reach our audiences across Canada. Starmaker has allowed all of this to be more accessible and financially feasible.
Iris was released in 2020. While the pandemic’s restrictions decreased our ability to perform live, we were able to access generous funding for live streams and limited-capacity concerts. When live performances increased this year, additional financial support was paramount to regain traction in the market. We were able to map out our summer and fall 2022 touring schedule with added assurances and higher bars set. Thanks to Starmaker, Carmanah brought our sound tech, media professional and merchandiser on our most recent tour, further polishing our live sound, excelling our media and marketing and providing higher volumes of gross sales on merchandise. This moved our overall product further into Canadian pop culture while financially stimulating these added artists/personnel/vendors and benefiting their respective sectors. This garners the physical/mental health and sustainability of tour life on the long Canadian roads. Without healthy and happy musicians, we wouldn’t be a healthy, happy band.
As we look forward to our next release, slated for spring 2023, we plan to further our growth, reach, and professional team. We are super appreciative to the Radio Starmaker Fund and the Board of Directors for their continued support.
