Ruby Waters is coming off a significant year of growth. Since 2021, her song “Blow” hit the top 5 on Alternative radio, she garnered two CBC Music #1s and her EP If It Comes Down To It was Juno-nominated for Alternative Album of the Year. Ruby released a series of singles bundled into a four-song EP (Heather) over the second half of 2022. Songs like “Heather,” “Open Arms,” and “Harder” all amassed hundreds of thousands of streams since their release. With no record label and a continued DIY approach to everything she does, Ruby’s projects are self-released and self-funded, so the support over the years from Radio Starmaker has been invaluable.

2022 was a big year for Ruby Waters’ touring business. From a touring perspective, Radio Starmaker support has helped Ruby hire top-tier musicians and crew to deliver fans a one-of-a-kind experience every night. From the club level to the main stages of festivals, you know you will get a special show every time. Ruby played festivals across Canada, such as Winnipeg Folk, Rifflandia, Calgary Stampede, and many more. Ruby is currently on her debut North American headline tour, selling out rooms consistently across Canada and the US. Radio Starmaker’s support allows Ruby to tour sustainably and deliver the best show possible.

Radio Starmaker has also provided incredible marketing support for releases and touring. Over the last six months, we launched an extensive digital and street marketing campaign around the Heather project and saw impressive results in streaming growth, ticket sales and social followings. Her single “Open Arms” is currently climbing the alternative radio charts. Being able to do radio promo and having stations see her perform while on tour has helped build the radio story in collaboration with Canvas Media.

Radio Starmaker is a unique program that allows artists and their teams to focus on taking the proper steps in building an artist’s career rather than having to cut corners or make compromises. The program has allowed Ruby to remain sustainable as a fully independent act, and we look forward to continuing the journey.
