Artist Profile: Dabin

Dabin

JUNO-nominated producer Dabin launched his third studio album, Between Broken, on October 15, 2021. The recording process was a joint effort between Dabin and his collaborators completed remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the help of RSF funding through the Orion program, the album was mixed by Eric J (Grammy and Aria Award-winning engineer whose credits include Flume, ODESZA, Dua Lipa and more) and mastered by Grammy-winning mastering engineer Emerson Mancini at Larrabee Sound Studio (who has completed award-winning projects for Kendrick Lamar, Halsey, Lizzo and more).

Over the past year, Between Broken has racked over 30 million streams on Spotify alone. The lead single, “Holding On (featuring Lowell),” was chosen for iHeartRadio’s Future Star program. Support for Dabin on commercial radio and streaming playlists marked the beginning of a plan to expand his audience beyond the EDM niche. It was made possible with funding received via the RSF marketing and Orion program, which funded radio promotion, publicity, Spotify Marquee campaigns, content creation and digital advertising in Canada and the US.

Although Dabin’s return to touring was delayed in some markets and his album rollout prolonged due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, he has emerged from the pandemic a top-tier electronic artist in North America - recently announcing a headlining performance in March 2023 at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado after selling out increasingly large venues across the US and Canada throughout 2021 and 2022.

With RSF support, Dabin could tour with a full crew and new production, including lighting and visuals, to give his audience a consistent and elevated experience, adding value for fans and promoters. RSF touring programs allowed Dabin to cover expenses while accepting strategic show offers with lower fees to perform in brand-new markets and as an opening act for electronic heavyweight and collaborator Illenium.

RSF’s support across all of these programs allowed Dabin, our management team at Kannibalen Records and the label team at Seeking Blue to amplify our investments with confidence. This campaign enabled us to grow Dabin’s profile significantly in North America while beginning to open up new territories abroad. We expect 2023 to be another momentous year in his development.
