While much of the world has been put on hold for the last 18 months, Zeds Dead have remained prolific, self-releasing four projects, along with a series of livestream performances. Zeds Dead released We Are Deadbeats Vol. 4 in January 2020, which was then followed up by a Deluxe version in July 2020, both on their Deadbeats label. The group then dropped Catching Z's in March 2021, which was followed up by a remix EP in August that same year. Catching Z's not only kept Zeds Dead engaged with the fans, but it was also used to launch the new sub-label of Deadbeats, Altered States. This new label will allow the group and other signed acts to explore a diverse range of more downtempo experimental electronic music. This will allow Zeds Dead to continue increasing their footprint on the Canadian and global electronic music scene and increase the number of successful labels in Canada.
Zeds Dead have felt the support of the Radio Starmaker program in aligning with the vision to consistently release high quality electronic music from Canada that can be marketed globally. Starmaker has supported this growth through the International Marketing of these projects, as well as support for multiple virtual livestream events. Zeds Dead were able to use these livestreams to connect with fans via chat, preview new music for them, and eventually parlay it into further business ventures. These streams became so popular that Gaming/Livestreaming platform Twitch came on as a partner and Zeds Dead ended up creating a series of livestreams for both themselves and other artists on Deadbeats known as "Deadbeats House Partys" where Zeds Dead could continue promoting their new music and other artists on the roster. The momentum created by these livestreams, alongside the ability to run "Deadbeats Radio" for over four years now also helped Zeds Dead expand to provide curated mixes or the Apple Music DJ Mix Platform. These are just a few recent examples of how the support of Radio Starmaker has helped with the advancement of another successful Canadian act.
The support from Radio Starmaker in the marketing and live presentation of this music and the opportunities which this helped create has led to significant project consumption including nearly 100 million streams worldwide across the four projects since the beginning of 2020.
Thank you for your continued support,
