Starmaker has been instrumental in the release of my work over the past few years. As a self-releasing, independent artist, I have limited resources to support the touring and marketing of a new album, which is why the funding Starmaker has given me to support my projects has made such a difference.

My album Navegar was released in 2015. With Starmaker’s help, I was able to increase my album’s visibility by purchasing advertising space in public areas, record stores, and listening stations; advertise in newspapers and online; and truly be present everywhere.

The touring money from Starmaker allowed me to go further artistically with more rehearsals, better paid musicians, and more time to create. Thanks to the fund, I was able to accept performances that were farther in distance with lower guarantees, find new audiences, perform showcases, explore and develop new markets, and attract broadcasters and complementary partners.

For an independent world music album, selling almost 10,000 albums and performing concerts in Canada as well as Brazil and France are no small feats. I’m grateful to Starmaker for supporting me and my album Navegar, which won the ADISQ award for Best World Music Album.
