Success Fact: The Zolas

The Zolas became eligible to apply to Radio Starmaker in mid-2016 and were able to access funding to support travel to several significant Canadian festivals and a number of US tour dates. This tour support allowed the band to profitably perform these shows and extend their audience.

The resulting exposure made room for the band to release a third single from their album Swooner to Canadian radio. In addition, it afforded them the ability to travel with a lighting technician, thereby creating additional employment opportunities.

The Zolas continue to enjoy the benefits afforded from their Radio Starmaker funding and continue to see increased radio play, streaming and hard ticket sales.

Tracking Success

We have established throughout the operation of the Fund a system of following up with our applicants to seek feedback on the impact of the funding. Statistics can only tell part of the story and we prefer to have specific and direct feedback from our applicants as to how they felt Starmaker assisted their goals. Throughout this report there are several success stories provided by our applicants that illustrate the very positive impact we are having on Canadian artists both here and abroad.
