Artist Profile: Lindi Ortega

Lindi Ortega

Lindi Ortega is an award-winning roots artist whose guitar-playing chops and innate country music instincts put her in an elite group of artists. Raised in Toronto, she now proudly calls Calgary home after spending many years living and making music in Nashville. She has earned an unusually inclusive type of success with both indie credibility and mainstream country recognition.

Her earlier full-length albums, Tin Star and Faded Gloryville, earned her two consecutive Canadian Country Music Association Awards for Roots Artist of the Year (2014 and 2015), an award she was nominated for again in 2016 and 2017. As well, Tin Star enjoyed a JUNO Award nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year. Little Red Boots and Cigarettes & Truckstops each also received a Polaris Music Prize nod. Following the release of Faded Gloryville, Lindi independently released an EP titled Til The Goin’ Gets Gone in March 2017.

The Radio Starmaker Fund has allowed Lindi to commit to opportunities that may have otherwise been impossible without this financial support. Since becoming an independent artist at the start of 2017, Lindi has had the honour of joining multi-platinum selling artist Chris Stapleton on the Canadian leg of his arena tour, placing her in front of sold-out audiences to further promote her recent releases. She has also performed with Country Hall of Famer Kenny Rogers and Grammy Award winner Dwight Yoakam and earlier this year, Lindi made her second appearance at the famed Grand Ole Opry alongside Charlie Daniels and Crystal Gayle.

The generous support from the Radio Starmaker Fund’s marketing programs has allowed us to bring on board experts to execute strategic digital marketing, publicity and radio promotion campaigns that have resulted in successful and augmented album cycles. The longevity of these cycles has resulted in audience growth in new markets, which has led to extensive tours across North America, Australia and Europe.

Without Starmaker and its board of directors, it would not be possible for Lindi to tour and continue on this upward trajectory where her potential for success is limitless. We are incredibly thankful for your support, which allows Lindi to be the independent artist she is compelled to be at this point in her career.
