Artist Profile: David Myles

David Myles

David Myles is the consummate music man. With hundreds of concert dates to his credit, he has established a reputation as an accomplished showman. His flawless musicianship and unforgettable stories have made him a favourite with audiences in Canada, the US, UK and Australia. David has won dozens of awards for his own work and his collaborations including a Juno, SOCAN award and multiple Much Music Video Awards. His partnerships range from co-writing “Inner Ninja” the best-selling rap single in Canadian history with hip-hop heavyweight Classified, to recording a duet with world-renowned opera diva Measha Brueggergosman.

David released his sixth and most successful album, In the Nighttime, in the spring of 2013. The album is a double-disc CD showcasing two sides of his musical persona. The first disc, produced by Aaron Davis, is a full-length album brimming with vintage pop songs and romantic folk ballads. The second disc is a six-song EP of contemporary tracks produced by Classified. Three singles have been released to Canadian commercial radio, with the third single “So Blind” charting in the top 40 at Alternative Rock, Hot AC, and Top 40.

In The Nighttime has shown significant growth over David’s previous releases across the board. Funding provided by the Radio Starmaker Fund for domestic marketing and touring allowed David to actively and aggressively promote the album in the media and on the road in Canada. The tour to support the release saw him playing shows as a trio from Winnipeg to Whitehorse. In early 2014, he toured solo across Canada opening shows for Matt Andersen, performing at festivals and in new markets in Ontario and Western Canada.

As a bilingual entertainer, David has also been building his fan base in Québec. With funds from Starmaker for publicity and promotion, he has performed on all major radio and television programs in Montreal and has now branched out into seven other markets in the province.

As we close in on the final year for marketing In the Nighttime, a fourth single will be released to radio and a strategic touring schedule will be implemented for the Fall. With support from the Radio Starmaker Fund, we have been able to maximize the impact of this release and develop David’s career for the future.
