Artist Profile: These Kids Wear Crowns

These Kids Wear Crowns

These Kids Wear Crowns are a six piece pop-rock band from Chilliwack BC, who just two years ago had no idea what was in store for them as a band. After a short run on MuchMusic’s music reality show ‘disBand’ they found themselves pursued by several labels in Canada. Although they were exposed early on to a national audience on MuchMusic, breaking through in Canada and overseas would require a lot more work and support.

The Radio Starmaker Fund has played an instrumental role in helping the development of These Kids Wear Crowns’ career both in Canada and internationally. The importance of getting out on tour in front of fans and building connections with them cannot be overstated. It was Starmaker’s touring support which made this a reality both in Canada (on a national arena tour in support of Hedley) and internationally (helping take advantage of opportunities to tour in both Southeast Asia and Australia).

Following their RSF supported touring and promotion in international markets, These Kids Wear Crowns were able to achieve a #1 single in Singapore as well as gold and platinum singles in Australia. These benchmarks would not have been possible without the Radio Starmaker Fund and signify the start of what we believe will be a long and fruitful recording and touring career in those markets.

Starmaker’s marketing funds ensured the band were able to keep up their domestic profile at radio, television and online while touring and building their career in Canada and throughout the world. Continued funding enabled ongoing promotional efforts tailored to specific Canadian markets following the success their singles attained in different regions from coast to coast.

The Radio Starmaker Fund’s support was instrumental in helping to drive These Kids Wear Crowns’ #1 single in Quebec towards gold single certification. They have since scored two gold singles in Canada, #1 radio singles and gold and platinum certifications both at home and abroad.
