Success Fact: Austra

Austra

The Radio Starmaker Fund has allowed Austra to make many choices this year based purely on the significance of a performance rather than what was most financially viable. Starmaker allows artists to follow the call of their artistry without limitation and this is a wonderful gift. In 2012, Austra were able to perform in Australia, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland and the United Kingdom to a wide range of audiences. They could ensure the shows had the best sound quality possible by employing a front of house sound engineer familiar with their sound and performance. The Starmaker support has made a significant difference in Austra’s career. It’s not that the financial benefits of Starmaker allow artists to somehow skip necessary steps in their path to popularity but instead that it affords them the privilege of simply keeping focused on their performance, art, showmanship and passion for music making. It is clear to us that this past year of touring has increased our audience and popularity without us sacrificing our musical values and for that we are very thankful.
