Artist Profile: Karl Wolf

Karl Wolf

Karl Wolf is a Canadian artist who is also widely known internationally in territories like Japan, the Middle East and North Africa. He has been an active solo act since 2005. His fourth and latest studio album, entitled “Finally Free”, was released by Universal Music Canada in July 2012. EMI Music has also released a similar album entitled “Ghetto Love” in Japan and in the MENA region (the Middle East and North Africa).

In early 2012, Karl was offered the opportunity to be a supporting act on Hedley’s Canada-wide “Shipwrecked” tour. The tour allowed Karl to be exposed to roughly five thousand fans that were in his direct target audience in each of the twenty-three different cities visited. This has led to a large increase in Karl’s fan base in his home country. Thanks to Starmaker’s domestic touring grant, there was enough financial support to get Karl and his band on this country-wide arena tour in a more than feasible manner.

His recent comeback was initiated with the release of “Ghetto Love” featuring Kardinal Offishall, the first single off his new album, “Finally Free”. The single achieved gold status in Canada. A successful follow-up was necessary to solidify his highly anticipated return. “Mash It Up” featuring Three 6 Mafia was released as Karl’s second single and Starmaker’s domestic marketing grant came in at the right time to support it, as funds were used for TV, radio and VEVO ads, helping us reach his second gold single in a row and proving Karl’s consistency on a mainstream level once again.

The Radio Starmaker Fund’s domestic marketing program has also allowed Universal Music Canada to launch an aggressive marketing campaign for the “Finally Free” album release which helped garner enough exposure for companies such as Public Mobile to see Karl’s mass marketing potential and choose him as their spokesperson for their Toronto and Montreal launch events.

Recently, Karl Wolf was awarded the Canadian Urban Music Artist of the Year award, as well as a nomination for an MTV Europe Music Award. This shows that the RSF has had and will continue to have a big effect on Karl Wolf’s career on a national and international level, putting it in sync with the general vision and goals of many Canadian artists and their management seeking success wherever opportunity presents itself on a global scale.
