Artist Profile: Hey Rosetta!

Hey Rosetta!

The Radio Starmaker Fund’s marketing and touring support of Hey Rosetta! around the band’s third album “Seeds” has been essential both in terms of building a bigger audience at home and bringing this wonderful band and their music to other territories.

Domestic marketing support has allowed Sonic Records to retain one of Canada’s premier radio promotion teams and as a result, the album’s first single ‘Welcome” was top 20 at Alternative Radio. Prior to this album, the band had only garnered the occasional feature on commercial radio with play primarily on CBC and college radio.

RSF funding has also allowed Sonic to substantially enhance our advertising budgets to include commercial radio and on-line advertising to an extent that was not possible on past releases. It’s been a game changer in terms of our domestic advertising plans.

In addition, tour support has allowed Hey Rosetta! to tour Australia twice this year, where “Seeds” was released by Dine Alone/Shock. Starmaker also supported showcases in London and at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, resulting in European label offers currently under serious consideration. Touring and marketing support in America led to ATO Records licensing “Seeds” for a U.S. release in 2012.

Lastly, Hey Rosetta! has benefited from other RSF supported events such as Festival Music House at the Toronto International Film Festival where the band showcased and the Polaris Music Prize which short-listed “Seeds”.

All in all, 2011 has been a massive year for Hey Rosetta! and the Radio Starmaker Fund has been there for the whole ride.
