Success Fact: Lights

Lights

On the strength of a six song EP, Lights was celebrated as the New Artist of the Year at the 2009 Juno Awards and her full-length debut had accordingly high expectations. With the generous support of the Radio Starmaker Fund, we were able to not only maintain momentum but build audiences in North America through effective radio, video, on-line and retail programs. Lights’ first full-length release, “The Listening”, was soon certified gold in Canada. Our biggest asset is Lights’ live performance but it is also our biggest expense. Starmaker’s touring grants enabled us to bring her show to fans across Canada, the U.S., U.K. and mainland Europe. Music lovers at SXSW, Leeds and Reading all responded to Lights’ performances, paving the way for future returns to their markets. Looking to the future, Lights is now poised to build a global audience with trips to new territories such as Australia and Japan. These strategic moves could not be considered without outside assistance. Thank you Radio Starmaker, we share all of our success with you.
